Pink Cactus
Skin Benefits

In Peru and Mexico, paintings dating as far as over 10,000 years old found in the ancient ruins depict various human encounters with the cactus plant.   Through these ancient paintings, you can discover that various types of cactus plants have been used for over centuries as a food, ornament, medicine, and some specific types used for its psychoactive properties.

If you ever had the chance to live or visit some of the desert states of the U.S. like Arizona or even parts of Mexico, you will be able to endlessly encounter a variety of cactus plants. And the Prickly Pear Cactus is an especially common type of cactus you will find along these regions.

Prickly pear cactus plants are a common part of the diet in Mexican and Mexican-American cultures, but only the younger prickly pear cacti are eaten as the older plants become too tough to eat.  They can and have also been used for medicine. Various researches done on the prickly pear cactus have shown that the plant may help decrease cholesterol levels and help fight viruses in the body.  High amounts of pectin and fiber in the prickly pear cactus have shown to help lower blood glucose.

Apart from the great health benefits, prickly pear cactus are amazing for promoting healthy skin.  It is abundant in amino acids, vitamin B, calcium, beta-carotene, magnesium, and iron which delivers incredible anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin.

If you ever told teenager Carolina to wear sunscreen everyday and re-apply at least 2 times a day she would have laughed so hard in your face, but today’s Carolina would basically marry you if you tell her you do so.
